WoW is very focused towards one endgame and that is instanced dungeons of 5 or more players. Everything about WoW revolves around that single playstyle. GW2 doesn't have a singularly focused playstyle at max level. The game has no continued vertical progression/teadmill, and the game has no instanced raids.
And you can treat it as just that, because ArenaNet isn't charging a subscription fee for Guild Wars 2 - so it feels more like a vacation than a vocation. You're free to dip in and out and out at

Guild Wars 2 has a fully fleshed out story and players have a personal story line to play through, which is determined at character creation by selection of pieces of story that form the character's background and personality.
